ABATE Local 10
MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

February 2008
We took care of some letter writing in support of AB425 - ABATE of California's Helmet Modification Bill.  If we can show enough support maybe we'll finally get the law modified in 2009.

Our plans are coming along for the Motorcycle Awareness Month Kick Off Poker Run and BBQ which is held the last Saturday of April.

We're asking all our members to please go through your un-used parts and dust collectors and see if you have anything to donate to ABATE for the Swap Meet in March.  If you have something to sell that you do not want to donate several members are planning on having a space so come on down.

A nice dinner was enjoyed by everybody and after the meeting had our usual 50/50 and regular raffle.  A good time was had by all.
January 2008
Everyone had a nice relaxing holiday and we are ready to start the new year.

The Annual Lobbying in Sacramento will be held on January 14 at the State Capitol.  On April the Annual Rally will be held and we plan to attend as a group.

We received a letter of thanks from Interfaith Ministries for our continued support with the Toy Run.

Plans are underway for the Motorcycle Awareness Poker Run held on the last Saturday in April.

We will have a booth at the Annual Swap Meet held in March at Jamestown Harley.  We hope all our members will donate the stuff that's collecting dust in the garage.

We will be joining our local HOG group for bowling at Black Oak Casino on February 17.  This gives us a chance to get to know each other better.  We hope to have more social events just for fun this year.

We enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and birthday cake for two of our members.

After the meeting we had our usual raffles.

We have lots of leftover turkey and mixed vegetables from the run so next month we will have turkey pot pie as the main course for the pot luck.

No Meeting Scheduled
November 2007
The toy run was a huge success.  The rain Friday night kept some people from joining us but the turn out was great.  We were able to donate $1500 and two truck loads of toys and food to Interfaith.  We had nothing but positive comments concerning the length of the ride, our new location at the fair grounds and the meal.  We were all disappointed that there was no support from any of the local law enforcement agencies after they all committed to helping at the major intersections.  We were very lucky there were not any accidents.

We held elections for next year's officers and not much changed.  Cindy will be the new President, Remy the new Vice President, Papa Neil the Treasurer, Carlen the Scretary and Reynold will be our Sargent at Arms.

Cindy and Carlen were given the honor of sharing the Member of the Year award.  They were both very thankful and feel they make a good team.

We had a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixings then had our usual 50/50 and regular raffle.

We decided we would not have our monthly meeting in December and will resume on January 9th with letter writing and a pot-luck at the Niebla's.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
October 2007
The final preparations for the Toy Run are coming together and we are hoping for good weather and a big turn out.

We will be doing some letter writing to our elected representatives at the next meeting.

We will be having nominations for our 2008 officers at the November meeting.

Cindy and Fred have offered their home for our winter meetings.

Once again we ended with the raffle.
September 2007
It's Toy Run planning time so all our time and energy is going towards that.

With the shorter daylight hours we will be having next month's meeting at the Niebla's
.
August 2007
The meeting was held at Jamestown Harley.  There were 14 members present.  We tried the turkey breast tenders and have decided to serve them at the Toy Run.  Once again we had several great side dishes.

We discussed some current bills that are in the assembly.  A bill which could change the helmet law is AB-425.  For more information on this bill please go to the ABATE of California web site - http://www.abate.org

We talked about the ABATE State Board Meeting in October but it is on the same day as the Toy Run so unfortunately we'll be missing the board meeting..

The ABATE State Run to Kernville is in October and several members are planning on attending that.

We have new ABATE merchandise and our inventory is slowly growing.

We will be renting additional lawn space at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds for the Toy Run.

Next month's meeting is on September 12 at Jamestown Harley and will be another Pot Luck.

Our elections are fast approaching, hopefully we'll see some new faces on our local board next year.  We need ideas for a winter meeting place.

As usual, we ended the meeting with our normal 50/50 raffle and then Robert brought out his mystery bag full of raffle prizes.  A good time was had by all.
